Biofeedback therapy is provided by Marlene Josephs,
M.A., MFT. Marlene has been practicing as a board certified biofeedback
therapist since 1981. She works extensively with stress and pain management,
anxiety and a variety of other mind body issues. Biofeedback can be an
excellent supplement to EMDR and other forms of psychotherapy or it can be a
stand alone treatment in many cases.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing. EMDR is a cutting edge therapy originally created for processing
traumatic experiences. Traumatic or unpleasant memories tend to get "stuck" or
"wired in" instead of processed as in normal experiences and as a result are
relived over and over. For example, your relationship partner may be a replay
of early family of origin dynamics. Thus, you are attracted to the same type of
person and get the same unhappy results each time. EMDR allows you to filter
through traumatic events from the past that are affecting you in the present.
The benefit to you is that it cuts down your therapy time. For more information
about EMDR, click on the articles section and select the article on EMDR.
